What you type
Portion has no account, no database and no cookies, and writes nothing to your browser’s storage. The salary, the hours, the holiday and everything worked out from them are calculated in your browser. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else, and none of it is kept: close or reload the page and it is gone, including a kept week and any holiday you entered as taken.
Copying the working or the email paragraph puts the text on your own clipboard, and printing sends the page to your own printer. Neither goes through us.
Share links
Share puts your figures into the link itself: the salary, the full-time hours, the holiday figures, the bank holiday choice and the hours for each day, plus a kept week and an offer’s full-time rate if you have them. That is how the person you send it to sees the same week. Holiday taken and the days of a planned break are never in a link.
Anyone with the link can read those figures, so send it only to people you mean to. When a link is opened, the address reaches Vercel, who host Portion, as part of the request, the same as any web address. We do not store it, and it is removed before anything is counted, as below.
Measurement
Portion counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and no storage of any kind, and it has no identifier for you: a visit is counted against a hash of the request that is thrown away within the day, so we cannot tell a returning visitor from a new one, and we cannot follow anyone between our tools. Everything after the page’s path is removed before a visit is reported, so the figures in a share link never arrive.
It also counts five actions: a link shared, the embed code copied, the working copied, a week kept to compare, and an offer checked. It never records what you typed. No salary, no hours and no holiday figure is ever part of an event.
Your IP address reaches Vercel as part of any request to any website, and is used for the approximate country in the visit count. We do not store it.
Portion is made by Digitopia Design Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, number 12037302, registered office 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, trading as Digitopia Labs. Our ICO registration is ZC160761.
We count visits on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing which parts of the tool get used. The counting is done by Vercel, so it goes no further than the company already serving you the page. Vercel is a US company, so that processing happens outside the UK under the standard contractual clauses in their data processing terms.
You can ask for a copy of anything held about you (which should be nothing), ask for it to be erased, or object to the counting altogether, at hello@digitopiadesign.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
