How do I work out a pro rata salary?
Divide your weekly hours by the full-time weekly hours to get your fraction, then multiply the full-time salary by it. 22.5 hours of a 37.5-hour week is 0.6, so £32,000 full time becomes £19,200. To go the other way, divide the part-time salary by the fraction.
How is part-time holiday worked out?
Portion turns the full-time allowance into hours on a five-day full-time week, then applies your fraction. 28 days of 7.5 hours is 210 hours; at 0.6 that is 126 hours. Hours come first because a day means different things in different patterns: with uneven days, a Monday off can use more hours than a Friday.
What is the statutory minimum?
Almost all workers are entitled to 5.6 weeks of paid holiday a year, capped at 28 days. For a regular pattern that is 5.6 times your working week. Bank holidays can count towards it. Portion shows the figure for your week beside the allowance you enter. GOV.UK holiday entitlement.
Are bank holidays included?

Is the monthly figure my take-home pay?
No. It is the gross annual figure divided by twelve. The weekly and hourly figures use 52 weeks, for comparison. Tax, National Insurance, pension, bonuses and how your payroll actually splits the year are not included.
What about irregular hours or joining part way through the year?

Is this advice?
No. It is a calculator on the figures you type. Your contract and your employer's policy decide what you are paid and what holiday you get. Acas guidance is that part-day holiday can be rounded up but not down; Portion shows the exact hours and leaves the rounding to your employer.
